About Us
Your journey, your home!
Welcome to our home Banyan Bliss. Situated off the Mumbai Pune Expressway, just 3 km from the Khalapur toll exit and 27 km from Adlabs Imagica on a motorable road and, for a short distance, a road less travelled through paddy fields, you chance upon our homestead, Banyan Bliss.
We are introducing a new offering of a sustainable eco village community called Whispering Waters. Learn more about it here
Set on top of a hill with the meandering Amba River not far below, the retreat offers a 360-degree view of mountains all around including Lonavala and Amby Valley. The terrain becomes alive in the monsoons with the view punctuated with waterfalls each more ferocious than the next.
What makes Banyan Bliss all the more special is that it reflects the personal journey of two like-minded souls, Beena and Viinod Nair. In its organic garden and vermicompost pit, its conservation of rainwater, its indigenous drip irrigation system, its ethnic style architecture, its earth walls and step construction design across different levels and its quaint nooks and turns
All this while retaining the warmth and ambience of a rural wada, with its Aangan and Bhramasthan. Not to forget the comforts of an urban home replete with western commodes and showers. For those who wish to bathe in the outdoors feel free to use our open roof showers.
What makes the homestead even more unique is its evolution from around its central core - a large, very, very old Banyan Tree whose expanse of branches afford a vast area of shade, right next to which is a Lotus pond with “guppy” fish that co-exist in its serenity.
Just nearby are two cashew trees, under the shade of which is a camping ground for you to pitch your tent and enjoy the adventure of the great outdoors with the comfort of modern amenities.
Banyan Bliss is a home away from the city. A space for childhood nostalgically remembered, of waking up to the sound of the cockerel crowing and the birds chirping sans the honk of cars. Of paper boats flowing down a rivulet and the sounds of the roaring river in the monsoons, a rustic bullock ride to the village and a trek up the mountain at dawn. Of your early morning cuppa sitting by the Aangan or getting your day's fix of Vitamin D courtesy the morning sun. Sunbathe in the winters if so wish, the nearest neighbours are several mountains away!
Every season has its own charm. And all it takes to enjoy it is to tweak the environment to what you best like and cherish it on a hammock or a tent either during the day or night. Around a campfire, if you so choose Banyan Bliss awaits you.
Come stop time for a day and take back memories that will last a lifetime.
